Annie's Post

Question: Find out how many people today elect to donate their organs after their death. What is the process to do so. How are the organs handled and delivered? How many lives do they save? Ask other students how many of them intend to donate their organs. Stage a debate. Discuss whether it is a good idea to donate organs and, if so, why do so few people do it?

According to http://www.organdonor.gov/index.html:

-116,820 people are waiting for an organ
-18 people will die each day waiting for an organ
-1 organ donor can save up to 8 lives

When having __ organs in your body, wouldn’t it just make sense to donate them because you are already dead? So in Unwind, all the unwinds are helping those 116,820 people. Is it normal that in this time they find it normal to medically tear people from limb to limb? No, but the idea that the “unwanted” children, that you want unwound, can also help others in the process is a great thing. Out of three people, one said that they will donate their organs, one said they won’t, and one said they don’t even know yet. So, lets count the person that is not sure as a no. Just, asking three people only one-third of the people said yes. Although that can help us in a small way, imagine all of the three people I asked were unwinds. That means three times the organs and three times the people saved. Those 18 people would no longer have to suffer, their organs will just be there. So, the organs would help the people in a huge way.
